The Graves County Health Department is advertising for a Health Environmentalist I or Health Environmentalist II

We will hire one environmentalist either a I or II depending on experience.

This is a full-time contracted position with a full-benefit package.

 

Credentials/qualifications required:

· Bachelor’s degree with a minor or twenty-four (24)semester hours in environmental health, biological or physical science or registration as a Kentucky/Environmental Specialist/Sanitarian under KRS 223.

 

Special Requirements:

· Must have and maintain a valid driver's license.  Must obtain credentials to become a Registered Sanitarian within a reasonable time and maintain those credentials so long as employed in this capacity.

Scope of Work:

Performs regular inspections of tourist accommodations, schools, swimming pools, to ensure compliance with state and local regulations pertaining to environmental health, this may include taking product samples and forwarding testing.  Secures water samples, investigate nuisance complaints and other duties related to environmental health; inspect food establishments for compliance with state regulations pertaining to sanitation; request assistance from supervisors in situations beyond his/her scope of training and experience.  Interprets reports generated by the Environmental Health Management Information System (EHMIS)/Graphical Users Interface (GUI) system.  Analyzes and interprets data regarding test results, inspections results, etc. and presents results to appropriate types of audiences. The person in this position will support other departments as directed by Supervisor, Clinic Director, and/or Public Health Director. Follow established federal, state, and local policies, procedures and programs relating to health and safety in the workplace while taking steps to promptly correct hazardous conditions.  Regularly participate int raining and education in safety practices and procedures, such as annual OSHA training. Maintain constant awareness of general contents of agency’s Emergency Operations Plan and identify individual role in Emergency Preparedness and Response. Identifies agency’s chain of command and management system for emergency response and participate in Bioterrorism and Emergency Preparedness drills. Actively participates in quality improvement and accreditation activities as needed.  All GCHD employees may be called to respond to preparedness drills and emergencies that may occur after hours.

Compensation and hours:

Starting pay for Health Environmental I: Minimum: $21.00

Starting pay for Health Environmental II: Minimum: $23.00.

 

Full-time 37.5 hours per week/normal hours 8:00AM-4:00 PM Monday-Friday with two paid 15-minute paid breaks and one 30-minutenon-paid lunch.  This position will require some evening and weekends.
